Molecular Weight:  Approximately 18.5 kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 172 amino acids

Biological Activity:  Fully biologically active. The ED50 is < 1.0ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 1.0×10⁶ Units/mg, as determined by the proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells.

Formulation: Lyophilized from a 0.2µm filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4, containing 4% mannitol.

Reconstitution: Reconstitute in sterile distilled water containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.

Storage: Store at -20^oC after receiving. Upon reconstitution, store at 2-8^oC for up to one week. For maximal stability, aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/ thaw cycles.

3.Introduction:

 Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF) is a member of the FGF family of mitogenic peptides which is comprised of at least 23 proteins. FGF signaling factors play a central role during prenatal development and postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. It was originally named bFGF based upon its chemical properties and to distinguish it from acidic fibroblast growth factor.
